…Step back in time with me and imagine for a moment. …I’m in my early 70’s, on a snowmobile hauling a sled full of wood back to camp, I have my dog with me and the sun is going down. I still have a little ways to go to get back and the trail ahead is becoming less and less visible as I wind through the trees.
Then it happened! One late turn and I was off the trail in waste deep snow. I was stuck, and stuck good! The harder I tried, the deeper it got. …All I wanted was a block and tackle or even a snatch block to lasso to a tree and help get me unstuck and back on the trail. And with one, it would have been fairly easy, instead of impossible, as it currently was.
The next day I went looking for a small, portable, lite weight block and tackle. I couldn’t find one. …So I started building one. …To date, the ‘Nifty Lift’ has gone through about five evolutions to get it to the powerhouse that it currently is.
